photographs by Miss Robin of The Rambler

wearing: mink - grandma karpetz. pink lace dress - vintage. thigh high socks - club monaco. boots - vintage. gummy bear necklace - childhood. purple jane belt - club monaco.

The lovely Miss Robin (who has recently become a Edmonton Journal columnist!) and I took a walk in the river valley. I have very few nice things to say about Edmonton but its abundance of nature in the heart of the city is one feature I appreciate deeply. Channeling the spirit of Courtney Love in the mid 90s, my newest personal photographer captured my teen angst essence in the woods.

My mink dream coat was recently gifted to me by my lovely grandma. Her initials, a dainty KK are sewn onto the lining and it makes me long for a time when people cherished their clothing. Whatever happened to the idea of lifelong purchases and not this bizarro need to mass consume? I try hard to abstain from high street purchases - I bought tights from H&M last July, it doesn't happen often. The gummy bear necklace is the second special item. It is the last intact one my sister and I have from our childhood. Paranoia wear, I cautiously wore it well.

Whilst thrifting in Phoenix I came across this black lace gown that just SCREAMED Stevie Nicks at me. It was a no thoughts necessary purchase and I immediately threw it on and swished around the house when I got home. It is one of those pieces that just makes you feel instantly good.

My last night in town we made a quick stop in Eloy, a little town with quaint crumbling buildings, a charming water tower (and not much else) to take photographs. Fortunately, this particular crumbling building was on a main road and we received enough hoots and hollers to scar me for a lifetime. Oh the trials and tribulations of a blogger.

You may remember AGES back my epic drive from Toronto to Edmonton and how a Frank Lloyd Wright house was on my must-see list in Chicago. I find his architecture very soothing and Taliesin West was no exception. I could pack up my exploding closet and record collection and set up camp. Grainy sand finding its way into all my belongings is something I could get used to. Unbeknownst to me, his colour of choice was red which I coincidently was rocking that day for our tour. Kindred spirits I'll say.
