When it comes to velvet, I have the same stance as George Costanza, I want to ensconce myself in all of it, all of the time. I’ve never met a piece of velvet I didn’t love and need. I have been especially lucky in the thrifting vintage department for velvet. It seems as though the pieces find me, I have a closet full of velvet blazers as evidence to this theory.

This red velvet overcoat is probably one of the crowning jewels of the collection… of coats that is; dresses and pants are whole different category. Much like the decadent cake of the same name, this coat makes me feel all kinds of sweet feels. I can’t help but feel opulent the second I slip my arms through the sleeves – it’s a good time garment. Maybe that’s part of the allure of vintage for me?

The two tone jeans from GUESS, while not true vintage, have a 90s throwback feel to them. I would have definitely lusted after them in my elementary school days and would have created a full matching look based on their colour way. Confession: I, Sandy Joe Karpetz, used to be a severe matcher. Headbands, tops, bottoms, socks, shoes. THE WHOLE LOOK… monochromatic. I was the ultimate GAP kid… jellies included. Perhaps I need to bring that back?
