Hideout Distro

Hideout Distro

Hideout Distro is a magical shop located on Edmonton’s bustling and eclectic 124th street in Edmonton. It was formerly located in Vacancy Hall (you can see that old location in my past post here.) Tory Culen, the owner wanted to create a space that promoted other independent designers and thus the shop came to exist.

The store is stacked full of both local and international talent from prints, patches, pins, jewelry, fragrances, pottery, leather goods, t shirts, and records. There’s also an epic vintage section. With its clubhouse like feel, it’s easy to wander down 124th street from Duchess Bakery for a coffee and go curl up in Tory’s vintage sectional couch for the duration of the afternoon. It’s cozy and welcoming. While that dreamy scenario isn’t an option right now due to self-isolation, Hideout is still open virtually on their website as well as offering local deliveries!

You can find Hideout Distro at:

Object Limited Bisbee Arizona

Object Limited Bisbee Arizona

Object Limited Bisbee

Here’s the deal…. in Bisbee, Arizona right next door to Classic Rock Couture is Object Limited Bisbee. Not only is it an exceptionally curated modern vintage shop, it’s also a hotel! One can browse their delightful home decor in the shop or stay in one of their artfully decorated rooms in downtown Bisbee. There’s even an artist residency as well! When I tell people how amazing Bisbee is, these multi hyphenate shops are one of the first things I rave about. Seeing spots like this makes me want to run away from home and start over in the desert.🌵

Since buying a new (to me) home built in 1968, all I can think about is making the guest room western themed. I would certainly start with these dope cowgirl and boy dolls but the barbed wire Howdy is pretty tempting too. I still regret not getting a brick of copper from the Bisbee copper mine but at least I have something to look forward to on my next visit. Also, who can resist going into a shop with a cute dog???

Pura Botanicals

Pura Botanicals

Pura Botanicals

There’s a pink door on 124th Street that can’t be missed. It’s the expanded location of Pura Botanicals that opened up a full brick + mortar store in collaboration with So Pretty by Cara Cotter last year. It’s just as stunning as the last spot (peep here for reference.) Their former space is now dedicated to creating all their wonderful potions. Keep scrolling for a tour of the new space but be warned, it’s magical.

What to Expect

Whether you’re is in the market for natural skincare, locally designed jewelry, or even a bespoke fragrance, Pura Botanicals + So Pretty by Cara Cotter is a destination worth checking out. Every time I step foot inside the shop, it’s a relaxing experience. It smells like an absolute dream and the staff are incredibly helpful. Not sure if their skincare will work for you? No problemo, they have sample sizes available of all their products! Check out their full product line up here.

Classic Rock Couture Bisbee Arizona

Classic Rock Couture Bisbee Arizona

Classic Rock Couture Bisbee Arizona

The vibrations of Laurel Canyon in the 70s runs deep at Classic Rock Couture Bisbee Arizona. This is one shop that should not be missed for those who love all things vintage and rock ‘n’ roll. The shop is located on Bisbee’s main street in what appears to be a heritage building. In fact, the whole town could pass as a heritage site since the architecture is both antique and stunning! It’s a town that should be included on any Arizona itinerary. Here’s a little peek at what the shop is all about.

Classic Rock Couture is best known for their iconic bomber jackets. It even appeared in Vogue for a NYFW editorial! (Bonus points if you can find the framed picture of it in this blog post!) In addition to the satin bombers, one can expect to find gorgeous vintage pieces, their line of t shirts, and an array of antiques. Want neon beer signs for your home bar or a tooled leather western purse? No problem! I even tried on a girl scout outfit that was slightly too small but SO ADORABLE! You really never know what you might find!

Oliver Apartment Shop Tour

Oliver Apartment Shop Tour

Oliver Apartment Shop Tour

Oliver Apartment is a beloved jewel in the city of Edmonton. What was once started as a home improvement project by Landon Schedler, a third generation carpenter, Oliver Apt has transformed into so much more. The brand has grown both in builders, studio size, and product range. Not only did they launch their first capsule collection in 2017 in addition to their custom build furniture, but chances are you’ve already experienced the brand in a local restaurant. Pip, Wilfred’s, Meat, and Farrow are just a few of the local eateries with OA’s solid wood creations. With that said, join me for an Oliver Apartment Shop Tour!

The Capsule Collection

What initially started out as a few pieces for the capsule collection, the line has now grown to 20 ready made items one can order straight from the Oliver Apartment site. This collection consists of small wood accessories such as the Hang Time, Knife Fight, and Hop Stick. As well as larger furniture pieces such as the Victoria Bench, Strathearn Stools, and my personal favourite, the Central Table. If some of the product names are feeling familiar to you, it’s because many of their goods are named after Edmonton neighbourhoods and landmarks. (A High Level Table anyone? 😉 ) The latest addition to the line is the the Cloverdale Coffee Table and Cloverdale Side Table – two bright and bold designs for someone looking for a little pop of wild in their home.

Wood Options

There are three amazing woods that they work with for their ready-made line: Black Walnut, Ash, and White Oak. Each option gives their designs a completely different look to suit anyone’s home. Black Walnut is definitely my favourite material, as the finish is so rich looking in photos and in person. I’ve always fancied myself as a white and light kind of gal for home decor but everything changed when I saw their Central Table in Black Walnut.

The Oliver Apartment Ambience

My favourite part of visiting their shop and showroom was feeling their sincere exuberance for crafting furniture for people. It is very clear they’re designing and building things that they love in a city they care a great deal about. It’s hard not to get jazzed about a city and it’s inhabitants when a local company is creating an ambience like that! It made me love my neighbourhood (their namesake) even more.

Oliver Apartment in My Oliver Apartment

Not only do I live in Oliver (how perfect) I now have an Oliver Apartment Central Table and Victoria Bench to call my own. It’s with great excitement that I will finally be revealing the first finished room in my place. Here’s a sneak photo of what’s to come! In the meantime, here’s where to find Oliver Apt in the digital space:

OUT & ABOUT | Premium Outlet Collection Edmonton International Airport

OUT & ABOUT | Premium Outlet Collection Edmonton International Airport

Premium Outlet Collection Edmonton International Airport

Edmonton shoppers rejoice! The first official outlet mall has finally landed – pun intended! The Premium Outlet Collection Edmonton International Airport had its grand opening May 2nd to the excitement of many. The lineup on opening day began at the stroke of midnight and by 8am was wrapping around the building like a fashionable snake. Missed the first day? No worries, the festivities are continuing throughout the opening weekend. Keep scrolling for your first peek of the Premium Outlet Collection Edmonton International Airport and what you can expect from this fantastic shopping destination.

The Shops

I’m sure the first question everyone has is: “what stores can I expect to see at the Premium Outlet Collection Edmonton International Airport?” I’m all about anticipating people’s needs. With that in mind, here are some of my favourite shops I’m excited about. Keep in mind these are the real deal outlets! First off, Levi’s has landed, bless the denim gods! As well as DSW, ALDO, H&M, Forever 21, Nike Factory Store, and Kate Spade (opening this summer!) to name a few. You may also recognize a few local retailers such as Cloud 9 Pajamas and Kelly Wollf.

One of the standout features within the Premium Outlet Collection EIA is Share, a retail concept designed to host a little marketplace of local goods. It’s a combination of locally made food and items from Edmonton’s makers community. Enjoy a 49th Parallel craft brewed coffee from Square 1. Or delight in a classic Hong Kong dessert from Bubble Cream. Wondering what that is? I’m glad you asked. It’s a fluffy egg waffle paired with ice cream and should not be missed. After buzzing from those two stalls, hit Eat Clean for a nutritious and delicious meal. All while browsing the art and design from local makers. Sounds like the perfect cozy corner to me!

Location, Location, Location!

It seems as though they have thought of everything in regards to accessibility! Not only is it easy to find off of the QE2, the 747 airport bus from Century Park makes a stop at the Premium Outlet Collection Edmonton International Airport! There is also a special shuttle from the airport should you have some spare time between flights. I foresee this being my go-to spot when waiting to pick up arriving friends and family members.

The Amenities

There are many hurdles when travelling. The hauling of things, the security, the general uncomfortableness about the whole process. Wouldn’t it be nice to take some of the grunt work out of it? That’s where the outlet mall amenities enter. To begin with, they have a “refresh room” for travellers to change and regroup. In addition to that, there’s luggage storage, coat and bag checks, cell phone charging stations, and most exciting: DeliverEase, a parcel shipping and delivery service. Ship parcels anywhere without having to figure out how to squash them into an overflowing suitcase. There are even flight status screens and boarding pass printing stations to avoid the anxiety of missing a flight.

Opening Weekend Festivities

Opening weekend is here and there are a few ongoing events and prizes to be won from May 2nd-6th! Some of the coveted prizes are vacation packages to San Francisco courtesy of Air Canada and EIA, Grey Cup tickets, Oilers tickets, and more! Many shops are offering opening weekend specials such a Levi’s with 25% off their ENTIRE store. See the complete list of the Promotions and Events at the Premium Outlet Collection shops.

Vote For Your Tote!

Another one of the opening weekend activations is the United Way Tote Bag Contest. Myself along with other local influencers and celebrities took some time to DIY tote bags that you can vote on here: VoteForYourTote.ca. You might see a familiar picture of Saguaro National Park in there! I taught myself how to embroider just for this specific occasion so if you dig my tote, please vote on it! 🙂 For ever vote received, $1 goes to the United Way Alberta and each voter is then entered to win their favourite tote + a $1000 shopping spree from Premium Outlet Collection Edmonton International Airport! Tote bags are on display till May 23rd.

Rest, Relax, and Nosh at The Market

Finally, we have come to my favourite topic: food. To call this area a food court would be a mistake. This eating area is far too bright and airy to evoke the feeling of a classic food court. It’s more akin to being in a really nice kitchen where the furniture is moveable and the seating is comfortable. Not to mention, there’s an array of delightful places to eat and a Starbucks that offers their Nitrogen Cold Brew.

Premium Outlet Collection Edmonton International Airport

And that concludes our tour of the first outlet mall in Edmonton! I would love to hear about your experience there so drop me a comment or an email! I’m looking forward to seeing what other stores are in the pipeline and cannot wait for Kate Spade to open this summer! 🙂
